Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

We want anyone to be able to read and use this site, however they browse. Here is what we have done, and how to tune the site to suit you.

Tune the site to you

Open the accessibility panel from the Accessibility link in the footer, or by pressing Tab when the page loads. Nothing floats permanently on screen, and your choices are saved on your device. You can:

  • Calm mode, stop every animation and moving element on the site.
  • Increase the text size in two steps.
  • Turn on high contrast for stronger text and borders.
  • Switch to a dyslexia-friendly typeface.
  • Underline all links so they do not rely on colour alone.

What we have built in

We aim to meet the international WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. Across the site that means: full keyboard navigation with a visible focus outline and a skip link; meaningful headings and landmarks for screen readers; text alternatives for images; colour contrast that meets AA; and full respect for your operating system's "reduce motion" setting, in addition to the on-site calm mode.

Being honest about limits

The globe and the moving particles on the home page are decorative; calm mode switches them off entirely. Some interface labels are currently English-only on the inner pages. We treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a box ticked once.
